This module explores how countries facing fragility—such as the Central African Republic, Guinea-Bissau, Somalia, and South Sudan—are leading their own transformation through national capacity development strategies. With support from the African Development Bank and its African Development Institute, these countries have adopted inclusive, locally driven approaches to identify priorities, engage stakeholders, and co-create solutions tailored to their unique challenges. The strategies reflect a shared commitment to rebuild institutions, strengthen governance, and invest in human capital. By aligning development efforts with local realities and national ownership, these transitioning nations are laying the foundation for sustainable progress and long-term resilience.
